D&G to Shut Down All Over the World at the End of the Month... Crazy Sales of up to 60% Off!

Saturday, June 30, 2012

Bye Bye!

I thought the sale signs at the D&G store at the Mall of the Emirates were part of the Dubai Summer Surprises. But sadly, according to this article, Dolce & Gabanna's cheaper brand will be going business- globally- by the end of the month.

Apparently, this decision was made last year during the Milan Fashion Week where Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana informed the audience via mass email that the brand will now be incorporated with Dolce & Gabbana.

The reasons behind the shut down are the same reasons behind why so many brands, companies and industries have faltered since 2008: the global financial crisis.

Now we're stuck with the main Dolce & Gabbana brand which is, quite frankly, extremely overrated and expensive.

The good news is that wallets, bags, shoes and apparel are all on sale now... so hurry before everything runs out!

I didn't really find anything I liked in terms of dresses and shoes, but I did buy this awesome wallet for 50% off! It was 1,280AED ($348) and I got it for 640AED ($175).

It is also available in many colors... Great bargain!

The Harvey Nichols Inappropriate Ad of a Woman Wetting Herself in Excitement Over Summer Sale!

Tuesday, June 19, 2012

Famous Deaprtment Store Harvey Nichols caused quite a stir while promoting their summer sale. Their ad is a blond model with a wet patch on her crotch area, with the tag line: "Try to contain your excitement".

Eeeek, that is pretty NASTY!

I love sales but I don't recall soiling myself when I hear of one... I guess some women love fashion THAT MUCH!

Actually, this comes as a slight surprise since their ads are usually cleaver. Check out the one below for their stores in Dubai. Wonder if they changed their ad agency.

What do you think of their "wet model" ad? Let us know in the comments section!

This post should make you feel better about yourself because it definitely did wonders for my self-esteem!

Celebrities are often perfect specimens of beauty and we love that about them. But sometimes, you just want to see them looking bad so you can remind yourself that perfection is just simply unattainable and that you should love yourself exactly the way you are.

That's why I present to you: The Worst Celebrity Beach Bodies of 2012...

EmiratiBeauty's Craziest Jeffery Campbell Shoes

If it's getting boring south of your ankles, you might want to check out this website... but I warn you, don't visit this online shop if you have an unyielding shoe fetish and a credit card.

It's been a while since someone revolutionized the shoe. Everything you see nowadays is nude or black, no one is being experimental anymore and to be honest, I am getting BORED of the same old crap!

That's why I am so amazed by Jeffery Campbell and his amazing shoes! I would love to see a retailer bring in his collection in the U.A.E because they are not so much shoes as they are pieces of art.

Check out my favorite pairs and if you know where we can find Jeffery Campbell shoes in Dubai, let us know in the comments section!

PS. I havne't shopped at Solestruck.com, I just LOVE their stock!

Mytheresa.com Exceeds Expectations

As I wrote earlier, I recently purchased my very first Fendi (usually, I would just borrow them from my mom or my sister.)

I also mentioned that I found it online for $725 LESS than at the Fendi store in Dubai. If they tell you "oh, Dubai is cheaper since you don't pay taxes", they are gravely misinformed!

I found my Fendi at Mytheresa.com and I decided to write a little something about the site since it got mixed reviews on SiteJabber.

Company Name: MyTheresa.com
Location: Germany
Contact Information: +49 89 679707-100, Monday to Friday, from 8:00am till 8:00pm CET (with the exception of German public holidays)

Website
The website is easy to use and has everything from designer dresses, shoes and bags to hats, scarves and small leather goods. The pictures of the goods are high resolution and you can really see the item thoroughly. Also, each item is described in complete details like washing instructions and materials it's made of (100% cotton, for example).

Sizing & Quality
I purchased a handbag so I am not sure if the clothes "true to size". But since the website sells predominantly designer goods (like Alexander McQueen and Balenciaga), the sizing depends on what brand you choose. To make things easier, go to the mall and try on a dress then try to find it on the site for half the price.

Payment
The site accepts all major credit cards, but does not have a Pay Pal payment option. It's really easy and take a few steps to complete the whole process. You receive an email confirmation as soon as you click the check out button.

Shipping
There is only one shipping option, which is with DHL with a standard shipping rate of €34 ($43). It takes 1 - 4 business days to deliver your items anywhere in the world. I got a tracking number the next day after my order.

It comes in a beautiful and large ribbon-wrapped box with MyTheresa.com inscribed. It's truly beautiful and feels great to unwrap.

I ordered my bag on May 31 and received it June 3. I could have gotten it earlier on June 2 but it was a weekend and had the package shipped to my office. It came the next day at exactly the same time I was told by the DHL representative.

Customer Service
Since my experience went smoothly, I did not use the customer service for complaints. I did, however, email them for the tracking number almost immediately after I made my order to check their customer service response time. I received a reply within 24 hours and it answered all my queries.

Return Policy
Like I said, I loved my bag and did not need to return it. However, if I did, my package came with return papers which I can easily attach to a box and send it back to Germany. For more information, click here for MyTheresa.com's policy for exchanges and returns.

Overall, my experience was wonderful. I just didn't like that I had to pay $84 (311 Dirhams) for customs and duties. This has nothing to do with MyTheresa and I knew that for any amount above a certain threshold, you have to pay duties and customs. Just a heads up if you are living in Dubai.

My New Fendi Chameleon Shopper in Periwinkle Review

Sunday, June 3, 2012

Name: Fendi Chameleon Textured Leather Shopper

Specifications: Dark periwinkle blue textured leather shopper with a gold-toned logo flap-over strap. Hidden magnetic snap underneath. Double stitched seam down the front and back. Double top handles with gold-toned hardware at the base. Light and dark brown striped logo lining with two internal sections and a zippered pocket in the middle. One back wall zipped pocket and two front wall slot pockets. Gold-toned protective feet on the bottom.

  • Height 30cm-12" x Width 40cm-16" x Depth 14cm-5-5"
  • Handle drop approx. 15cm-6"
  • Designer color name: Light Blue + Gold

I've been eying a new designer bag to add to my growing collection because I feel like spoiling myself. I have already purchased a Vuitton a few months back and I was happy with it but I wanted something that you don't see around too often. After months of searching, I decided on the Fendi Chameleon Textured Leather Shopper in Blue. I usually opt for black or brown bags but decided that this kind of blue because I can wear it in all seasons.

I found it online but I was too worried about purchasing a luxury item worth more than $1,000 from a random website. I was afraid I would be paying for a replica, or the website would be a sham...etc. So, I headed to the Fendi store at the Mall of the Emirates, and there it was! Just sitting there begging me to purchase it.

I asked the saleswoman how much it was, thinking the difference between the amount at the store and online would be minimal.

O.M.G how wrong I was!

Turned out the Fendi store was selling it for $725 more! SEVEN HUNDRED AND TWENTY FIVE! That's a whole new bag altogether! On the website, I paid $1,281 with shipping and $85 customs fees. I was shocked to see that at the mall, the exact same bag was selling for $2,095. I thought it may come in difference sizes but she assured me it was just one size in this model.

I can understand why some men and women wouldn't buy clothes online: it's risky and they might look terrible. Also, returns are a pain in the butt and are usually paid for by the customer.  But buying a purse is different than buying apparel and it could save you tons of money.

After this experience, I will definitely buy all my designer bags from a legitimate website rather than the traditional brick-and-mortar stores at the mall.
